For probably the first time in his life, Ghanaian journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni says he’s liberal – just that his liberalism is in the support of corruption.

Manasseh has carved a niche for himself as one of Ghana’s most conservative journalists, and he’s not shy about that label.

Someway, somehow, on this issue of paying our former first ladies and spouses of Presidents and Vice Presidents insane amounts of money every month, backdating it for four years and paying it forward till perpetuity, Manasseh has found his liberalism.

How likely is that?

The journalist is intolerant towards any liberal notion of modern change including how ladies dress, how gays live and even how kids are to barber their hair!

Lookup any issue and you can find Manasseh on the conservative side of things.

When the Achimota Rasta student issue came and Manasseh was yet to speak up, I always thought it was clear that whatever he said would side with the school because he’s just that conservative and a leopard does not just change its spots!

Lo and behold, that’s exactly what happened.

Today, Manasseh says he’s quite liberal when it comes to the salaries of politicians.

On Facebook, Manasseh has given his reaction to the first lady salary brouhaha.

According to him: “I am quite liberal when it comes to what we legally pay to our politicians and public officials. That’s not what makes us poor,”

Of all the things in this world to be liberal about, this is what Manasseh chooses.

It is no wonder Ghanaians are in his comments wondering what drugs he has taken to come out and defend this monstrosity from the government.

Or perhaps it’s not drugs at all but the most powerful thing in the world which shall not be named.

After all, as the saying goes – everyone has their price.
