Security Analyst, Adib Saani, says the IGP, Dr. George Akufo Dampare should find mechanisms to restore the confidence of the public in the Police, which has waned over the years.
Speaking on #GTVBreakfast, Mr. Saani said the recent shootings of Police officers affect the confidence of Ghanaians, mostly civilians who rely on the security service for protection.
He said it is important that the Police officers are given the necessary logistics to protect them to safeguard the security of Ghanaians.
“We do not have leadership that is committed to ensuring not just the physical safety, but the Psychological safety of the Police Officer,’’ Mr. Saani reiterated.
He expressed worry about the trend of events, so far as security consciousness in Ghana is concerned.
“When you go to the streets to ask people’s perceptions or opinions about the police, and some of the things they have to say are not pleasant, that is why IGP Dampare has a lot of work to do, so far as confidence building is concerned,’’ the Security Analyst reiterated.
