The Ministry of Health has released a new date for re-opening of schools for public health training institutions. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic which affected the education system in Ghana, the academic calendar was not followed as planned.
In a previous letter released by the Ministry, the 2021/2022 Academic Year would have started from 27th August, 2021. In this new letter from the Ministry of Health, the 2021/2022 Academic Calendar has been rescheduled to 10th January, 2022.
This is as result of the need for completion of the 2020/2021 academic work for continuing students and also preparation for the final year students to write their Nursing and Midwifery Council Examination in December, 2021.
According to the statement, First Semester of the 2021/2022 Academic Year begins on 10th January, 2022 and ends in 9th May, 2022. This means they will spend 16weeks in school and thereafter, they will begin their vacation practicum on 10th May to 31st July, 2022. Second Semester also begins on 6th August, 2022 and ends on 27th November, 2022.
The Ministry also emphasized that the rescheduling of date will help create enough space for the first year students and hence social distancing can be observed.
