Asante Kotoko beat Wonders for fourth consecutive win

Kumasi Asante Kotoko continued their impressive start to the Ghana Premier League on Saturday with a fourth consecutive victory as they beat Eleven Wonders 2-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
A deserved win for the Porcupine Warriors who moved three points clear at the top as second-placed King Faisal were beaten by Berekum Chelsea on Friday.
However, Great Olympics will overtake King Faisal and reduce Kotoko’s lead to two points if they beat Dreams FC on Sunday.
Samuel Boateng gave Kotoko the lead after 28 minutes with a brilliant effort from outside the box with Mudasiru Salifu providing the assist after a great interception.
The second goal came in the 77th minute. Isaac Oppong picked up the ball on the left, beat his marker, made a great run into the box and unleashed a powerful shot into the net. A stunning goal by the youngster who now has three goals and three assists.
For Wonders, the defeat extends their winless run, plus they are the only team yet to score a goal in the league.
Earlier in the day, Accra Lions registered their first win as they beat Bechem United 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Aduana Stars’ clash with Real Tamale United in Dormaa got rained off in the second half with the scoreline at 1-1.
