WATCH: Police Officer Fights Off Colleagues With Spinning Kicks And Punches

A police officer stationed in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town has been referred to a medical facility after he allegedly assaulted his colleagues using martial arts moves, at the Mitchells Plain bus and taxi rank on Thursday.

The officer was captured on video losing his cool and turning hostile towards his colleagues.

A series of video clips of the incident has since gone viral on social media, showing the police officer doing karate chops and flying kicks while his colleagues try to calm him down and restrain him.

In the footage, one officer can be seen using pepper spray as a means to try and calm him down, as bystanders take videos while cheering him on and screaming in the background.

According to police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, the video clip had been viewed by SAPS management.

“We are [aware] of the incident where a police member stationed at Mitchells Plain SAPS acted out of character.” Swartbooi said.
