“Teacher-One Laptop’ policy has recorded an impressive success rate since its launch”; Dr. Bawumia Alleges

Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Bawumia announced the government’s hustle to renovate academic resources to provide the best effects for the Ghanaian youth has been highly important. He put in that a bigger percentage of the laptops have already been administered.

In a recent detail in the February topic of PAV Magazine, Mr. Bawumia declared that “the One Teacher-One Laptop program has been a success.

“In less than three months after the program was undertaken, I am informed that 80% of the laptops accessible had been administered to high school teachers around Ghana. Free Wi-Fi has also been delivered to over 700 Senior High Schools across Ghana.”

“We have also assured that our teachers will obtain the technical support they need, with 260 GES District ICT coordinators having been educated to help them incorporate this new technology into the classroom,” he referred.

Organizations such as the Innovative Teachers and All Teachers Alliance Ghana (ATAG) alleged that the rates of the laptops have been increased and illustrated what they described as process breaches in sole-sourcing the agreement to K. A. Technologies Limited

This comes after some disappointed teachers indicted the Education Ministry, Ghana Education Service (GES), and some teacher coalitions of conspiring to illegally use their monies to pay for laptops for them.

On Wednesday, December 15, 2021, units of ATAG undertook a demonstration to revolt against the drive and asked the authority to instantly pay back their money.

Amidst these problems, the Vice President asserted the program is anticipated to be broadened this year for basic school teachers to receive their laptops as well.

“We must ensure that no student is left behind and this government continues to strive towards the attainment of Sustainable Development Goal 4 which is an aim that the President and I hold dear to our hearts.

“I am looking forward to the continuation of the program in 2022 with the provision of laptops to junior and primary school teachers,” he implied.
