Cristiano Ronaldo has responded to Manchester United’s 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 first leg on Wednesday night.
Ronaldo was unable to lead Manchester United to victory against Atletico Madrid, as both teams drew at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium thanks to two goals from Joao Felix and Anthony Elanga.
In response, Ronaldo described the match against Atletico Madrid as a ‘great game,’ adding that this is the Champions League, the mother of all competitions, in an Instagram post.
Man United now have a chance to beat Atletico Madrid in the return leg at Old Trafford, according to the Portugal captain.
Ronaldo wrote: “Always a great feeling to be back in Madrid, one of the few cities in the world that I’ve learned to call “home”.
“Great feelings, great players, great game, this is Champions League! The mother of all club competitions! Now we have the opportunity to close this for us in our stadium, showing everybody why Old Trafford is and will always be The Theatre Of Dreams.
“Last but not least, thanks to our amazing supporters! Your presence makes us stronger, and together we will go forward! Let’s go, Devils!”
