Before the one-week commemoration of Omanhene and Queen Mother of New Juaben, major streets in Koforidua will be closed.

Nana Otuo Serebour, Chairman of the Council of State and Chief of Asante Juaben, is presiding over the traditional week observance of his brother, Daasebre Professor Emeritus Oti Boateng, a former Government Statistician and Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Area in the Eastern Region, and the Queen-mother, Nana Yaa Advani.
On Monday, March 7th, 2022, the Yiadom and Hwedie Palace in Koforidua Srodae in the Eastern Region will host the week’s observation.
The Gyaasehene of New Juaben, Nana Twumasi Danquah, announced during a news conference that the major route from the Market traffic light to the Prince Boateng Roundabout, which leads to the Chief’s Palace, will be sealed on Monday, and all commercial activity will be halted from Morning till the end of the One-week Observation.
Even though Monday is Market Day in Koforidua, he explained that the decision to close the route was necessary due to the kind and class of dignitaries visiting the city.
The traffic flow to and from the Palace would be aided by the blockade.
The One-week Observation of the Apagyahene of New Juaben and Chairman of the Publicity Committee of Daasebre Oti Boateng and the Queen mother of New Juaben Nana Yaa Adaani highlighted the importance of the Monday event to the people of New Juaben.
According to him, this is the first time in New Juaben’s history that an Omanhene and Queen mother have died at the same time
