Kylian Mbappe in race against time to be fit for PSG against Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe is an injury doubt for the second leg of Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League last-16 clash against Real Madrid on Wednesday evening.

The 23-year-old injured his foot in training on Monday morning but PSG say his condition is “reassuring”.

He will be examined again in the next 24 hours, after undergoing treatment this afternoon.

Mbappe scored an injury-time winner in the first leg of the last-16 tie three weeks ago, giving PSG a 1-0 lead to protect at the Bernabeu.

The French giants will definitely be without Sergio Ramos and Ander Herrera, who are training individually until the end of the week. Ramos has an ongoing calf issue, which has ruined his first season in the French capital, while Herrera has conjunctivitis.

Addressing Mbappe’s injury, a PSG statement said: “Kylian Mbappe suffered a knock on the left foot in training today. He performed treatment this afternoon.

“The clinical examination is reassuring and a new point will be made in 24 hours.”

Mbappe has made 34 appearances for PSG this season, scoring 24 goals and registering 17 assists.
