Kanye West Gets Suspended From Instagram Over Infringement

According to a spokesperson for Instagram’s parent company Meta Platforms Inc., Kanye West has been suspended for 24 hours for violating the platform’s harassment policy.

According to a spokesperson, Joe Osborne, in an emailed statement to Reuters, the platform deleted content sent from the 44-year-old rapper’s account that violated its policies on “hate speech, bullying, and harassment.”

According to Osborne, West, who legally goes by ‘Ye,’ will be barred from posting, commenting, or sending direct messages from the account for 24 hours, and further action may be taken if he continues to violate policies on regaining control of the account.

West representatives did not respond immediately to Reuters’ request for comment.

According to Variety, West used racial slurs against Trevor Noah, the host of “The Daily Show,” in an Instagram post after Noah mentioned a fight between West, his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, and her boyfriend, “Saturday Night Live” comic Pete Davidson.

The post was later removed, according to the report.

Meta refused to provide details about the posts that violated its policies.

Posts on West’s profile, however, continue to criticize actor D.L. Hughley and SNL writer Dave Sirius.

Kardashian, a reality show star and businesswoman, filed for divorce from West a year ago, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple has four children, ages two to eight years.

Following the divorce, West publicly chastised the reality star on social media for her new relationship with Davidson and publicly urged her to return to him.

A Los Angeles judge granted Kardashian’s request to be declared legally single earlier this month, after nearly eight years of marriage to the rapper.
