Elon Musk gives date for when humans will arrive on Mars

The entrepreneur has changed the date of his mission

The space race in search of the human being to set foot on Mars is still underway, but the calculated times for this to be achieved are being delayed, as the entrepreneur Elon Musk has implied with a very clear message.

The CEO and founder of SpaceX is working for his Starship spacecraft to reach the red planet, as his plans even aim to establish a city on Mars and in his first statements in this regard, said in December 2020, he calculated that this milestone would be achieved between 2024 and 2026.

However, Musk and SpaceX have had to overcome several obstacles, such as the lawsuit filed by Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos’ U.S. aerospace transportation company, against NASA.

The reasons for this lawsuit are due to the multi-million dollar contract NASA awarded SpaceX to develop Starship.

For Musk, when will man reach Mars?

Despite some of the obstacles SpaceX has faced, Musk has not lost sight of the mission’s main objective and has only had to postpone the arrival of humans on Mars for three years.

Last Wednesday, Musk announced on Twitter that the new date for man to finally set foot on Mars would be 2029, exactly 60 years after the first moon landing was achieved in 1969.

Starship has already achieved some successful high-altitude flights, although it has not yet reached space, but the goal is for this spacecraft to carry astronauts to the moon for NASA and eventually to Mars.

When are the ideal times to go to Mars?

In addition, not just any time is the ideal time to undertake a mission such as reaching Mars, because as Mars and the Earth move around the sun, both planets approach each other and then move away, so it is necessary to take advantage of the windows in which the distance is smaller.

Such windows propitious for launching a spacecraft to Mars for this decade are only at the end of this year, end of 2024, end of 2026 and end of 2028/beginning of 2029.
