The Nigerian national team has been dealt a major blow ahead of next week’s 2022 World Cup playoff match against the Ghana Black Stars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, as star Wilfred Ndidi has suffered a medial ligament injury.
Wilfred Ndidi, who suffered an injury on Thursday night, could miss the Super Eagles’ match against Ghana.
Ndidi was forced to leave Leicester City’s UEFA Europa League match against Rennes in the 60th minute.
After the game, Foxes coach Brendan Rodgers confirmed that the Super Eagles midfielder had injured his ligament.
Ndidi has a blocked tackle, so, it is his medial ligament and his knee. We will see how that is,” Rodgers told BT Sports.
According to research, medial ligament damage takes on average six weeks to heal.
The 25-year-old could be back in a week if the situation isn’t as bad as it appears.
