I’ll stabilize the economy soon – President Akufo-Addo assures

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, President Akufo-Addo has stated that the government’s policies will help the economy recover faster than anticipated.

Recognizing the public’s concern, President Akufo-Addo stated that the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted every country on the planet.

Inflationary pressures, skyrocketing fuel prices, unprecedented stock market volatility, and tighter global financing conditions are not unique to Ghana. “Global phenomena,” he remarked.

“However, Government continues to work hard to address these issues, and I am confident that our economy will soon recover from the ravages of the pandemic, bringing stability, development, progress, and prosperity for all Ghanaians.”

According to President Akufo-Addo, the Ghanaian economy grew at a provisional 5.2 percent in the first three quarters of 2021, with GDP growth for 2021 expected to be 5.6 percent, up from 0.4 percent in 2020.

“We must take difficult but essential fiscal and other steps to maintain 2021 and higher growth rates in the next years, to develop and strengthen our economy, and to help enhance our collective living standards,” he continued.
