Coded, a hiphop musician, has explained why he does not want to feature any artists on his songs.
He stated on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty that he wants to rise on his own.
According to a former member of the defunct music trio 4×4, new artists enjoy throwing their weight around when asked to collaborate.
He claims they waste a lot of time flexing the older musicians with attitudes.
“I feel when an old artiste wants to feature a new artist, they throw their weight around, they flex you, they have attitude, they would waste your time, and they will want you to work with their timelines,” he disclosed.
The musician-turned-entrepreneur(Coded) went on to say that he has refused to feature any artists because he does not want to rely on them.
He stated that he does not want to feature any trending artiste because he is afraid of being sidelined when there are show or concert bookings.
“I will want to rise to the top. I won’t feature you. If the song becomes a hit today, they will not call me for a show but they will call the featured artiste and will be making money. So, I will rather do a song by myself. If it becomes a hit, they will call no one but me,” he added.
Coded, born Russell Avornyo, believes that his experience in the music industry, as well as his exceptional writing skills, will be enough to propel his career forward even without the support of his former group members.
