Here we go: Tottenham Hotspur Complete Ivan Perisic Signing

Fabrizio Romano

Tottenham Hotspur have completed their Ivan Perisic signing, according to the ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano.

The Croatian’s deal in Italy expires next month, and he is now set to link up with former boss Antonio Conte in North London after the manager specifically prioritised this move. The deal will see Perisic stay at Spurs for two years with his medical likely to happen next week.

Tottenham are not short of world-class talent and experience in their attack. Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min have both been vital to Spurs’ top-four success this season, and look set to stay alongside Conte who also recently decided on his future.

Son and Kane have formed a fantastic partnership during their time together in London, with a combined 40 goals and 9 assists in the league alone this season. As a joint Premier League golden boot winner for the 2021/22 campaign, Son has arguably been Spurs’ best player since last August, although a case can certainly be made for his English counterpart too.

Being 33-years-old, Perisic is certainly not at the peak of his career, but equally, it is by no means near its conclusion. Despite his age, the winger made 33 league appearances last campaign, most of which were starts. He also accumulated 15 direct goal involvements in Serie A, 19 in all competitions.

He is clearly still able to perform at the top level and was crucial for Inter’s title charge which culminated in narrowly missing out on the Scudetto to city rivals AC Milan. Perisic’s extra-time magic also saw his side emerge victorious over Juventus in the Italy Cup.

Conte will be keen to add a balance of experience and youth to his side this summer, and after the January signings of young duo Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur, the Italian manager has now looked to one of his former colleagues as the Tottenham Hotspur project ramps up.
