Her 3-year-old daughter, Kulture, has been diagnosed with autism, according to a fan on Twitter. In a Tweet that has since been deleted, the user wrote:

“Your daughter is autistic and you’re on stan’s Twitter instead of making sure she’s not sticking her finger in outlets.”

This is a brave thing for a stranger to say to you. There you have it: Twitter to the rescue. A quick clap back from Cardi followed:

“My daughter is not autistic… You can’t call her ugly so y’all have to diagnose her with something. Go play in traffic bitch.”

Those are fighting words!

She later added in an additional Tweet:

“WHY DO Y’ALL BRING UP KIDS FOR? Wtf my kids gotta do wit y’all misery?”

The point is well taken… It was a little out of bounds to raise the rapper’s child. But, hey, I guess that’s what comes with being a famous person.

Even though Cardi was probably just trying to reassure the trolls that her daughter has not been diagnosed with autism, many fans are questioning her defensiveness in this matter:

“You have every right to defend your child. I’m just trying to understand why saying a child is autistic would be used as an insult. If you don’t understand anything about a child having autism you should know they are gifted and amazing in their way.”

“I have grandsons with Autism. They are my heart. I don’t know what made people call your daughter Autistic, but it’s nothing to be ashamed of.”

People diagnosed with ASD, or Autism Spectrum Disorder, fall into a wide range of symptom presentations, many of which are extremely high-functioning.

Rapper WAP responded to some of the backlashes by asking:

“Why am I wrong for me saying ‘Don’t put that st on my fking kid,’ but the person that’s tweeting that is not wrong?”

To be fair, we believe that both parties should have kept their noses to the grindstone.

She and her husband Offset talked about the effects of online bullying in an interview with Essence in April, and the 29-year-old is aware of it.

“We went through a lot of sad things when it comes to Kulture — terrible behavior that not even the older kids have ever been through. So many people will post mean, disgusting things, just to get a reaction from us. We want to protect our feelings because we get very, very angry and upset”

Kulture, 3, and Wave, 9 months, are Offset’s children with Cardi.

This isn’t Cardi’s first encounter with this kind of criticism, as she explained in an Instagram live in April:

“There’s nothing wrong with that disorder. I have friends that have children that are autistic. But my kid doesn’t have that. So if I want to say, “Don’t put that s**t on my kid,” I can say that.”
