Nani, a former Premier League player, has agreed to a two-year contract with Melbourne Victory of Australia. He previously played for Venezia of Italy.
The 35-year-former old’s team, Manchester United, is scheduled to visit him soon, so he might soon be able to bring a bit of home with him to Australia.
This Friday, as part of United’s pre-season tour, they will play the Australian A-League team.
The preseason campaign for Man United begins on Tuesday with a match against Liverpool in Bangkok, Thailand, followed by a flight to Australia for games in Melbourne and Perth.
When United visits the area, Nani might make his debut for his new team against the team where he first established himself.
After eight seasons and four Premier League championships, two League Cups, and a Champions League, the winger left Old Trafford back in 2015.
While it would undoubtedly be special for him to reunite with his old team, Cristiano Ronaldo will be absent.
United talismans have been given more time off since they would miss preseason due to “family difficulties.”
As he starts to wind down his legendary career, there have also been whispers that Ronaldo wants to leave Old Trafford in quest of championships and Champions League football.
As a result, Nani won’t be reuniting with his old housemate and teammate this summer.
Even though he won’t be meeting his countryman, Nani is concentrating on the fresh opportunity that lies ahead.
He added, “I’m pleased to be joining Melbourne Victory in the A-League and I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead.
“Tony Popovic, the head coach, and I chatted about Melbourne Victory’s will to succeed. Tony Popovic is a former defender for Australia and Crystal Palace.
“I want to contribute in some way to the team’s success.
“From what I’ve observed, Melbourne’s supporters are not only the league’s greatest, but they also rival the atmosphere in Europe.
I’m excited to represent the Victory this season on the field while wearing a Victory shirt.
