According to reports, Lionel Messi is opposed to Luis Campos and PSG’s plans to sign Antoine Griezmann, a forward who previously played for Barcelona.
It has been reported by El Nacional that Campos has targeted Griezmann as a striker who can meet the needs of both Christopher Galtier and Nasser Al-Khelaifi. While the two once shared the pitch at Barcelona, reports indicate that Messi and the French striker aren’t on the greatest of terms.
As previously said, it has been claimed that Lionel Messi has no interest in reuniting with the Frenchman. Despite the Argentine’s public endorsement of Barcelona’s pursuit of Griezmann, the player initially rejected the club’s offer to sign him.
Moreover, the French striker’s entourage had blamed him for the problem when they failed to communicate with Lionel Messi on the field. Even worse, his uncle had alleged in an interview that Barcelona did not put in any effort during training sessions and instead only cared about pleasing “certain players.” Despite the unusual circumstances surrounding Griezmann’s deal, reports indicate that PSG has already begun the signing procedure.
Despite Lionel Messi’s objections, PSG and Luis Campos have begun negotiations to sign Antoine Griezmann.
Barcelona has loaned Griezmann to Atletico Madrid. But Diego Simeone’s team holds the player’s rights until June 2023, so Barcelona will need Atletico’s approval before making a deal. Despite Simeone’s preference for Alvaro Morata to depart rather than Griezmann, he may be compelled to sell. Because if the striker meets specific criteria, Atletico will be obligated to sign him.
They may re-enter the transfer market and save a ton of money by releasing the high-paid striker. As for the €35 million, Barcelona has requested, not many clubs are willing to offer that, with Paris Saint-Germain being the lone exception. In a recent press conference, Galtier expressed his interest in acquiring a striker by saying:
We need a new scoring threat. There is a lot of effort being put in by the club. I have been talking to Luis Campos about this personally. There can be no blunders on our part.”
Romelu Lukaku, Erling Haaland, and Robert Lewandowski are just a few of the attackers that made huge transfers this summer that PSG could not manage to sign. According to reports, Galtier is opposed to the signing of either Cristiano Ronaldo or Alvaro Morata. The manager wants a striker who is efficient and can also work hard.
PSG is on board with the striker’s potential signing because the club is keen to bolster its French roster ahead of this year’s World Cup.
