Check Out Star Lea Michele In Her 1st Broadway Role Since Funny Girl

In today’s press release, producers of the Broadway production of Funny Girl gave the world its first glance at Lea Michele in rehearsal for the part of Fanny Brice.

After Beanie Feldstein unexpectedly stated in July that she would be leaving the role at the end of the month, speculations began to circulate that former Glee actress Lea Michele had already been hired to replace her. Barbra Streisand, of course, revolutionized the role with her iconic performances on Broadway and in the movies.

Actress Jane Lynch, who had been playing Mrs. Brice, also said she would be departing the show early. Julie Benko, a regular on “Fanny,” and her former Glee co-star were on her well-wishes list.

Thanks to my present scene partner Julie Benko, and I’ll be returning to see my pal Lea Michele turn on the lights, Lynch wrote.
On September 6, Michele’s new run began with Tovah Feldshuh taking over for Lynch.
