A New York family is suing a neighbor for $20 million after he reportedly followed their son home during the road rage and drew a gun on their front lawn.
Douglas Debonet, 32, allegedly got into a road rage fight on July 23 and crashed near his neighbor’s home in Selden, New York.
Hours afterward, Debonet allegedly visited the collision victim’s home. He blocked the driveway and wanted to see Tyme.
Tyme “sheltered in place” and contacted his parents, the lawsuit says.

Debonet states in the video, “Keep your son away from my house.”
Tyme said, “The cop’s coming.”
Tyme tells Debonet to “get off my land” after arguing about his son’s shattered side-view mirror.
Off-screen, Debonet steps back.
“Get off me with the pen,” he says, pulling out a revolver and aiming at Tyme.
Debonet lowers the rifle and accuses Tyme of threatening to knife him and Tyme’s kid for “casing” his house.
Debonet holsters his gun while they quarrel.
Tyme warns Debonet, an off-duty cop, “You can’t behave like this with government money.”
OK, he says. Please keep your son away from my house.

As the fight continues, Debonet walks to his car to fetch his phone and shows Tyme a photo of his son outside his house.
Tyme accuses Debonet of shattering his son’s side-view mirror, but the officer denies it and says the youngster smashed it himself during the road rage episode.
Tyme says Debonet was terrified; Debonet disagrees.
“What’ll I do?” he asked.
Tyme shoots back, “You’re on my land and you pull a gun.”
Suffolk County police apprehended Deboned.
In 2017, Debonet was accused of abusing his authority, according to public records. The investigation cleared him.
His lawyer didn’t immediately comment.
The Tyme family has a restraining order against Deboned and is considering leaving, their lawyer said.
Dillon Tyme, a former high school track runner, and Stony Brook University student, had never met Deboned.
“No prior communication,” she stated. “No blockages. Everyone was friendly.”
The Tymes want $20 million for false arrest and detention, civil rights violations, emotional distress, and more.
