Jeremie Frimpong, a right back from Ghana who was born in the Netherlands, scored twice in the first half as Bayer Leverkusen beat Mainz O5 on the road in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Frimpong scored three goals in a row to give Leverkusen a 3-0 lead at halftime, but Mainz came back stronger on defense after the break.

In the 29th minute, Exequiel Palacios gave Bayer Leverkusen the lead.
