USHER SHRUGS OFF VERZUZ COMPETITION: “I DON’T THINK ANYONE WOULD WANT TO SMOKE WITH MY SONGS,” he said.

Usher Shrugz thinks that his catalog is too much for anyone to handle on Verzuz, or even for the platform itself.

During a recent appearance on the PEOPLE Everyday podcast, the R&B veteran showed off his resume and brushed off the competition. He also talked about the chances of him taking part in the popular battle series by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland.

Usher says that the only person who could fight him in the Verzuz ring would be himself.

“I think if you ever came to my show, you would understand that I don’t even think a Verzuz could handle all of the songs I have to be honest,” he said. “It seems like something I could do on my own. I don’t want to do that, though. That’s not what Verzuz, “me versus me,” is for.

“But I think it’s great,” he said. It’s wonderful to honor music. But you can’t really appreciate it until you know what it is and how long it took to make it. And if you want to compare it to something, what are you going to compare it to? Are you putting it up against itself?”

Usher went on to say that when it comes to breaking records, he is in a different league. He also said, “Man, I’m a different animal.” “I’m made of very different stuff, man. I don’t think anyone in the world would want to smoke with those songs on.

Usher’s comments about a possible fight between Verzuz and Chris Brown, who many people think would be the best match for the Confessions singer, are different from what he said in July.

Usher told EDaily !’s Pop show that the heavyweight R&B battle is not happening, but he didn’t rule it out for the future.

“A flyer was made. We’re not doing that, because it’s not official,” he said. “I can still enjoy what I see, though. Nah, there’s no Verzuz. I don’t think any of you are ready for that. One day, you might be ready to do something like that on stage. “Stay in touch.”

Even without a Verzuz battle to promote, Usher has been asserting his pedigree lately. Last week, the 43-year-old accepted the King of R&B crown during an interview with Bevy Smith on her show Bevelations. This is something that fans and artists have been talking about a lot.

He said, “I mean, if you call me that, I’ll take it.” “I’m going to tilt my crown because I know I’m standing on the shoulders of all the great people of our time. I stand on Michael Jackson’s shoulders, James Brown’s shoulders, Ronald Isley’s shoulders, Luther Vandross’s shoulders, Barry White’s shoulders, and Teddy Pendergrass’s shoulders.”

He went on to say, “These amazing artists, like Marvin Gaye, will never be forgotten as long as I have air in my lungs.” All of them are right. So, if you want to give me that crown, tell me who is going to do it better.”
