Akufo-Addo said he’s pleased to work with Truss to boost Ghana-UK ties.

Liz Truss has received hearty congratulations from President Nana Akufo-Addo on being chosen as the new leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Ms. Truss is assuming the presidency of the UK at a time when her nation, as well as the entire world, is in upheaval, according to Nana Akufo-Addo. She also stated that she is as determined “as we are to find a satisfactory way out for the benefit of the British people, as we are to work for the benefit of the Ghanaian people.”

In his message of congratulations on Facebook, the President of Ghana recalled the helpful, crucial role she played as Trade Secretary in the conclusion of a £1.2 billion trade agreement between Ghana and the UK last year, which strengthened the ties between the two nations.

With the words, “I look forward to working with her to enhance the ties of friendship and the bonds of collaboration between Ghana and the United Kingdom,” President Akufo-Addo wished her success. She has my best wishes.

On Monday, September 5, 2022, Liz Truss, the foreign minister, was chosen as the new prime minister of the United Kingdom after winning the leadership election for the ruling Conservative Party.

She defeated former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak, winning with almost 57% of the Conservative Party members who could vote.
