Graham Potter was hired as the new head coach of Chelsea just one day after Thomas Tuchel was fired.

After firing Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea has chosen Graham Potter as their new head coach.
Potter joins from Brighton & Hove Albion, where he spent just over three seasons in charge. The 47-year-old manager was praised by many on the south coast for changing the Seagulls’ style of play and helping them finish in the top half of the league table last season.

This weekend, he will be in charge of his first official game as Chelsea manager. The Blues will go to Fulham, which is just across the river in west London, for a live game that will be shown on BT Sport. Reports say that Todd Boehly had to pay around £16 million to get Potter. This is because Boehly had to pay the former Swansea and Ostersund manager out of his contract at the Amex Stadium.
The well-liked manager is only Chelsea’s second permanent English manager since the turn of the millennium. The only other was Blues legend Frank Lampard.
Graham Potter said about his move to Stamford Bridge, “I am so proud and excited to play for Chelsea FC, a great football team. I’m very happy to work with Chelsea’s new owners, and I can’t wait to meet and work with the team’s talented players and build a team and culture that our amazing fans can be proud of.
“I’d also like to thank Brighton & Hove Albion for giving me this chance. In particular, I’d like to thank Tony Bloom and all the players, staff, and fans for their support throughout my time at the club.”

After taking over for Tuchel at Stamford Bridge, Potter has a lot to live up to. Even though the team’s results were not good at the start of this season, the 49-year-old German managed to win both the Champions League and the Club World Cup in his 21 months in charge.
But despite spending more than £250 million on new players over the summer, the results were not good enough, and the former Borussia Dortmund manager was fired after Tuesday’s Champions League loss to Dinamo Zagreb.
After Tuchel left, it came out that he didn’t agree with the club’s plan to try to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United in the summer. This is thought to have played a part in his downfall.
