Reports say that PSG is planning to pay between €35 million and €40 million for a Barcelona forward to replace Lionel Messi next season.

Reports say that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is getting ready to make an offer of €35–40 million for Antoine Griezmann and that Lionel Messi might return to Barcelona. Griezmann is on loan from Barcelona to Atletico Madrid right now. He joined Barcelona last season. His contract has a clause that could make the loan last for good.

If he plays more than 45 minutes in 14 games for Atletico, they will have to pay €40 million to buy him next summer (via Barca Universal).

Even though Atletico wants to keep his services, they don’t want to pay the fee mentioned above. So, Diego Semione has been smartly using the player by taking advantage of a hole in the mandatory clause. Barcelona wants to go to court because of how Atletico Madrid has been acting. Lionel Messi, on the other hand, joined PSG last summer and is in the last year of his contract there. The Parisians want to make a new deal with the star player to keep him there longer. But Messi could go back to Barca when his contract is up. With this in mind, the French champions are still considering bringing Griezmann back to his home country.

It is thought that the Parisians are willing to pay the World Cup winner €35–40 million per season (via Futbol Total). So far this season, Griezmann has played in five games for Atletico Madrid and has scored three goals.

Neymar told why Lionel Messi had a hard first year at PSG after coming from Barcelona.

Lionel Messi’s first season with PSG couldn’t live up to the sky-high goals he set for himself while he was at Barcelona. The seven-time winner of the Ballon d’Or could only score 11 goals and set up 15 others in 34 games for the French club. Neymar talked about Messi’s first season in Paris on The DAZN Soccer Show. He talked about what went wrong for Messi. The Brazilian said the following:

“I’ve known Leo for a long time. I was able to help him more on the pitch in training by speaking to him. It’s hard to make a change like that because he’d been in Barcelona for many years and now everything has changed for him and his family.”
He has started the new campaign brilliantly, contributing four goals and six assists in eight matches across all competitions so far.
