The ongoing Aisha Huang controversy, according to a renowned lawyer and author Esq. Benjamin Tachie Antiedu presents Ghana with an opportunity to make a strong statement to the international community.
He argues that Ghana has had a bad reputation as a lawless country that is home to criminals from all over the world, therefore now is the time for the country to assert its independence.

On the Happy Morning show with Samuel Eshun, Mr. Tachie acknowledged the likelihood of diplomatic contact. On the other hand, he urged the government to keep its composure in the face of diplomatic pressure.
They will try to manipulate things, but now is the time to stand up for your country’s independence. Not everything has to be a bargaining chip. Ideally, we could put some things on hold. Even in our most casual interactions with pals, I’m confident that we never go beyond a certain line. He went on to say that foreigners should be subjected to the same penalties under the law as those imposed on domestic offenders.

This case, it seems to me, is a chance to send a message to the rest of the world about how seriously any illegal conduct, whether committed by locals or visitors, will be punished. Why should we permit foreigners who come to ruin our environment when Ghanaians who participate in such activities have had their equipment and tools destroyed, he said rhetorically.
