“Pele, Maradona, etc,”; Ronaldinho responds to claims that Lionel Messi is the best football player ever.

Former teammate and current Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) sensation Lionel Messi has been passed over by Barcelona veteran Ronaldinho as the sport’s all-time best. Lionel Messi, the icon of PSG, is 35 years old and approaching the conclusion of his career. The fact that he is still considered to be among the top football players in the world today is a testament to this.

It’s safe to say that the Argentine legend has cemented his place as one of the game’s all-time greats. His 21 years with Barcelona resulted in 35 trophies, and his two with Les Parisiens. Messi has been chasing the FIFA World Cup without much success, but he eventually got his hands on a trophy with Argentina last year. The forward scored the goal that won the Copa America for La Albiceleste in July of 2021.

Not to mention, the ex-Barcelona player is a seven-time Ballon d’Or winner. He has so surpassed greats like Pele, Diego Maradona, and Cristiano Ronaldo in the annals of football history to become universally hailed as the sport’s best player ever. But Ronaldinho doubts Messi can stand alone as soccer’s best player. The famed Barcelona duo of Pele and Maradona both said that several other players from their period were superior to them. He started Eleven Sports:

“Because of the various variables involved, answering this question is tricky. For the most part, I avoid making comparisons. Pele, Maradona, and countless others were just a few of the greats. To their respective generations, each was unparalleled.”

Messi and Ronaldinho were teammates for four years at Barcelona, which is worth noting. Together, they appeared in eighty games and contributed nine goals.
