Another ray of hope will soon shine on the Baptist School Complex and Orphanage (BASCO), as Citi FM Foundation pledges to build a girls’ dormitory for the institution.

This promise was made, when the station visited the orphanage on Monday, April 5, 2021, to make a donation, as part of its annual corporate social responsibility programme dubbed, the Easter Orphan Project.

After receiving the donations, the Director of the Orphanage, Reverend Victor Ofori-Amoah thanked the station and its cherished listeners and used the opportunity to make the plea for a girls’ dormitory.

He explained that the orphanage could not admit girls because it did not have a facility to house them.

Due to this challenge, many orphaned girls could not be accepted into the institution.

Responding to this plea, the Programmes Manager of Citi FM/Citi TV, Jessica Opare-Saforo, who led the team, assured the orphanage that the foundation will take up the task of building the facility for them.

Over the years, the Citi FM Foundation has supported the orphanage with cash donations, stationery, food items, toiletries, and other domestic items collected from the station’s listeners and viewers, who make generous contributions towards the project.

The Baptist School Complex and Orphanage (Basco) is located at Trotor near Suhum in the Eastern Region.

It is a private school complex, and also home to about 80 orphaned children, of which the majority are boys.

The BASCO girls’ dormitory project is expected to commence soon, and Citi FM Foundation will be seeking the help of its cherished listeners and viewers to assist in this noble cause.
