KNUST Students Allege School Authorities Neglected A Sick Student to Die Over Fear He Had COVID-19

KNUST students embarked on a demonstration after a student died from ulcer complications without receiving any medical treatment or assistance.

According to the students, despite being in pain and rolling around, authorities failed to get him medical attention out of fear he had contracted COVID-19.

The student died and his colleagues embarked on a demonstration to protest the behaviour of their teachers.

One of the students told Citi: “The senior housemaster told his [the deceased boy’s] friends to leave him alone. He told them to sanitise their hands and asked them why they were holding the boy and gave them a plot to weed [as punishment].”

“The headmistress herself came to stand in front of this boy and the boy was rolling on the floor for more than four hours. They couldn’t call any car to take him to the hospital.”

The angry students vandalised the headmistress’ car during their protest until police stepped in to restore calm.

According to Citi News, authorities at the school have declined to comment on the matter.
