Parliament has approved 13 ministerial nominees of President Akufo-Addo by a majority decision and others by consensus.

Ten were approved by consensus while three were by a majority vote after extensive debate on recommendations made by the Appointments Committee.

Those whose approvals were secured through vote were Minister-designate for Information; Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister-designate for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Hawa Koomson, and Minister-designate for Food and Agriculture, Owusu Afriyie Akoto.

The Speaker, Alban Bagbin announced that the list will be sent to the Presidency as the certified individuals to man the affairs at the various ministries.

After debating the report late into the night, the Speaker put the decision of the three by votes.

At the end of the polls, the total votes were 265. Mavis Hawa Koomson got approved by 161 YES votes to 104 NO votes, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah got approved by 155 YES votes to 110 NO votes and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto got approved by 143 YES votes to 121 NO votes.

The Ministers who were approved by consensus on the floor of the house include Minister-designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Sarah Adowa Sarfo, Minister-designate for Energy, Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Minister designate for Education, Dr. Yaw Adutwum, and Minister-designate for Defence. Dominic Nitiwul.

The others Minister-designate for National Security; Albert Kan Dapaah, Foreign Affairs & Regional Integration Minister-designate; Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development minister-designate, Dan Botwe, Minister-designate for Interior Ambrose Dery, Minister-designate for Employment, and Labour Relations, Ignatius Barfour Awuah, and Minister-designate for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, were approved by consensus.
