Allowance of teacher trainees has been all over and viral about when it would be paid by the by Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) which is the institution responsible for the payment of teacher trainee’s allowance in Ghana.
There have been numerous news about replies from the Minister of Education, Dr. Mattew Opoku Prempeh about as to when the allowance will be paid out, amidst this COVID-19 pandemic where teacher trainees are still at home and not in school for acadamic works to progress.
Earlier reports from the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana indicated that the second semester was scheduled May, June, July and August. Therefore allowance will be paid by the Student loan trust fund will pay allowance for these months.
“per the academic calendar with the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) and my engagement with them, allowance for trainee teachers for the second semester is scheduled for payment for the months of May, June, July and August.” earlier report stated.
A report from the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana in an engagement with stakeholders on 15th and 16th June 2020 on issues of interest of its members indicated that, over 6,107 students are yet to recieve their allowance for first semester. This delay is as a result of incorrect details from students involved.
Also the stakeholders assured that allowance for June will be paid at the end of the month marking the beginning of second semester allowance schedule.This means level 100’s and 200’s are going to paid full of Ghs400 including feeding and its likely to be paid on or before 22nd June 2020.
